Really enjoyed your soundscape Kirby. The blur effect added to the image as well as the creepy soundtrack from "Psycho" cause a very strong emotional revelation.
Your use of illusion by editing the stilts out of the background is very clever. It's also ironic, because when I first saw this image I thought it WAS a boy being hung in the background.
There is a lot of tension growing as the strings in the audio pick up intensity and the color transitions to blood red. The emotional and subjective story you created out of one clip was brilliant. I wondered if any one else or myself was going to use only one clip for the assignment. Glad you did, well done man!
Kirby man, you did a fantastic job with this soundscape. From the beginning the emotion that came across me was very anxious. The anxiety came from the orchestral piece in the beginning. It was reminiscent of a kidnapping scene of a classic black and white. There was beautiful tension throughout the entire piece created with the slow focus roll of the image. I also pick up on a sense of calm contrasting with the sounds and the focus roll. This is not a bad thing at all I think it is very interesting. The girl in the image seems cool calm and collected while it looks like the boy hanging in the background. The adaptation of the Psycho song in there is the cherry on top. Nice job dude.
You manipulate your soundscape very well. There are two parts i like most, one is panning sound of rope which moves from left ear to right ear an gives us a perception of space and distance. I think it more sounds like sound of belch. The weird sound fit the emotion of the whole soundscape and very fearful. The other one is the sematic sound-siren sound, which more sounds like ambulance; at the same time the picture become more and more red, which represent an accident happened and many blood left.
Kirb, I found your soundscape to be very cool. I really enjoyed how you were able to pull off only have one image the entire time without losing the interest of the audience. The slow moving changes and subtle manipulations added to the emotion of the whole video because it, along with the music, added a great sense of confusion and anticipation. The similarity of the photos really helped to let the audience know that something is happening or happened within the scene but still confused as to what exactly went on. The only change I would have made would be to not have the boarder around every slide just to give it a more eerie feeling about the photo.
I thought the fact that you only used one image was really creative. You made it work really well. The directionality of the song fit with the manipulation of the image really. The sirens were a great addition too. They gave a whole new aspect to the story and added a new emotional response to the image. The sirens gave the listener an aural reference. At first the music was kind of eerie but the sirens changed the perception of the image. This gave me the impression that she was in trouble. I thought you did a fantastic job building the music and creating tension. Overall great job
I found it very impressive that you could make something so compelling from a single slide. You expanded the space of what was a relatively narrow image with your use of sound manipulation. You represented movement in two ways: first you had the rope tightening come from each speaker. Second, by making the sirens grow louder over time, you created the sense that they were approaching. Also concerning the sirens, by having the screen grow redder over time, combined with the louder sirens, you really created the sense that the police were approaching. Finally, you nailed the theme. The mood was very anxious, yet everyone seemed so calm. Overall, you used this slide to its fullest potential. Well done.
The way you portrayed your soundscape was very appealing. It almost as if you were tipping your hat down to all the classic radio dramas in the way you used the sound. I almost mistook the ending for sounding like an alien spaceship. Though the different sound effects you had used really conveyed the emotion very well, and helped convey tension. Honestly I liked how you created the rope sound effect, to create that sense of dread and shock. It was interesting that you only used one image throughout the power point, which just added to the mood overall. http://artistmdia.blogspot.com/2011/06/ways-to-get-ideas-response.html
